Reus - where you feel like a god!
Reus is an indie game that is being developed by Abbey Games. This game is all about using the will of the 4 gods to find a balance between nature and the humans inhabiting the planet. The game features a unique art style by being 2d, but also having a very cartoonist look to everything(not a bad thing in my mind). Wanting to play it? Well sorry to let you down but it is not out yet the game releases on steam and other similar sites on May 16, 2013. I should also note that at this time there is only conformation about a PC version of this, nothing has been said about porting it over to consoles. There is not much information out about the game because no one has been able to play it freely, we only have 2 videos that they released to go off of.
Gameplay
The game is played with a mouse and keyboard, i assume they are simple controls because the gameplay videos do not seem to show many complex keystrokes or anything of the kind. Even with the "limited" number to controls the game still has many many different possibilities that can happen and the game will always be anew each play through. The main objective of the game is to keep a balance between all of the people and nature. You can do this in a multitude of ways using the gods, for example the 'Tree/plant God' can grow plants and animals, so if you don't help the people by creating food and animals then they will not worship you and rebel which breaks the balance between humans and nature.

This is a frame from the video that shows the two gods helping the people collect food and grow their towns.
I realize that this is not a very in depth review of the game or much about it, but once it comes out and i can get my hands on it i will be sure to make a better review or just update this one. But for the time being here are a ton of in game pictures they have released and a video or two.

An old classic - The Binding of Isaac
The other day i was looking through all my steam games, when i saw the game Binding of Isaac and now i can't get enough of it. The game may look simple at first, but there is so much to do in the game and it is actually really difficult to beat. The game was created by a man named Edmund McMillen and a small team of his. This small team is well known to many gamers because of their two simple but great hits, one being The Binding of Isaac, and the other being Super Meat boy. This is a great game so let me tell you a little bit about the gameplay, lets try and convince you to buy this awesome game, or at least watch some videos on this classic.
Gameplay
The game is based off of old dungeon style games, that were made when games were making their first appearance. The game plays like this: you walk into a room, and there are anywhere from 0-10 hostile mobs in the room, then all the doors close so you are locked in, you must kill all of the mobs in the room in order for the doors to open. Then you repeat this process and go to the next room.
But the game is not all about just killing everything in the room and moving on. It's all about the way that you kill the mobs, and the different items that you get. You might walk into a room and see a golden door in the room, well that is where you want to go it has all the good stuff. For example one of the items that is the golden room could be a power-up that makes you shoot 4 bullets at once instead of one, it could boost your speed, hp, firing rate, etc. So far they have a 198 items that are available in game and that you have a chance of getting when you go in the golden rooms. (to view them all you can click here)
How difficult is it?
I think that the game is actually really difficult for a couple of reasons: you don't regain hearts over time you need to find/buy them, since everything is random you can get really bad items, and after a couple of hours playing you will start to make really dumb decisions and die a lot. The game also has a huge learning curve, when i first started playing i would die a lot and never make it past even the first boss. But like everything in life it gets easier after you play for a while, even with my all my time spent on the game which is only like 15 hours i have never once beat the main boss. I have gotten close but never beat her (aka "mom"). So hopefully you guys have better luck than me and wish you good luck on your journey into the unknown.
Thanks for reading i hope that i have convinced you buy this awesome game, but if not hopefully these screenshots and videos will persuade you. Just for the curious i am in no way connected to any of the games on here that i write articles on, i just write them for the fun of it and to help you guys find awesome indie games and in the process help out the indie developers. I would greatly appreciate it if you would tell me what you like and dislike about my articles either in the comments below or via twitter @The_Gent_Turtle!
Here is a screen shot of one of the first rooms in the game, notice the golden door(that's where you find the items)
Then here is a screenshot of one of the bosses, and you can see that bomb with a smiley face is the item that i found in the gold room.
And finally here is a video of gameplay:

Tower wars! Its not a game its a war!
Have you heard of it?
If you have then you have proably already gotten a beta key and played the crap out of it like i did! But if your answer is no then you have some learning to do! Let me give you a quick summary of the game. There is an online and singleplayer gameplay, the online you play against other people while singleplayer is just where you defend and then the cpu sends waves against you, i will explain this more in depth later on. But basically there are two teams red and blue and you go to war sending troops and building your defenses all while stabling your ever chaning economy. Sound fun right!
The Multiplayer gameplay
This is what everyone wants to play, its the meat of the game that they worked the hardest on! By they i mean SuperVillain studios, they did a great job putting this awesome game together! But any ways the actual gameplay, so like i said before there are two teams and you each get a side of the map. Both sides are exact replicas of each other so no one is at a disadvantage. You start off with a weak troop around 500 coins and 3 mines with 1 miner each, and 0 battle points. Well what does it all mean?
Well let me tell you, the troop is like in any other tower defense game you save up coins to go send out a troop, the first guy costs 25 coins but other troops can cost much more. Then the coin system, so you start off with the original 500 or so and you have to send out some troops, place towers, and buy miners all when you start off the match. Now to talk about the miners so you start off with one miner and i think 3 mines(may vary) and what they do is collect money every so often thats your main source of income. And lastly the battle points, well they are complicated...so i'll try my best. You can only get them by sending out troops, but then you can spend them on a variety of different things. You can buy upgrades for your troops like armor, hp, and speed, or maybe unlock different troops, also upgrade your main castle. Thats a basic summary of the multiplayer and i just barely went into to details everything will seem more clear to you when you actually play.

Actual in game footage of a multiplayer game
The Singleplayer
Currently there are only three maps to choose from, well i should mention that there are currently on three to choose from in the whole game(multiplayer included)! So basically instead of you sending out troops the cpu sends out troops and you have to build up defenses to stop them from making it to your castle. As you gain money and build your intricate maze they send out troops and upgrade them to try and push through your defenses. All the while you are upgrading your towers to stop them! It is a very fun addition to the game, there is no actual way to beat the computer because it is all just based on time so it times how long you lasted and you try and beat your record!

This is a glimpse as to what the singleplayer looks like
The Turrets
Yes the most important thing in any tower defense game! This game is unique because you need to balance your money out between the turrets and the troops. You have a choice between i think 6 or 8 different types of turrets. They have small turrets like shown in the singleplayer screenshot such as the crossbow and the cannons, while they have lager ones like the lava pouring monster in the multiplayer screenshot! But not all turrets are for destruction they have some that increase fire speed and damage and some that slow down troops with wind! If all those towers arent enough to stop them then you can upgrade all of them up to level three!

My opinion
In my personal opinion i love the game! I think that they did a really great job with putting it all together and it has tons of potential to become a very successful game! I like how you have complete freedom as to how you build your setup and how you can change the whole map around with just a single turret. I also enjoyed how you have to manage how you spend your money and be sure not to spend too much on turrets and then end up not being able to attack your opponent with troops. So not only do you attack the other castle you also have to think about defending your own castle, it is a very interesting concept and it brings tower defense games to a whole new level!
How do I play?
Right now the game is only in beta but if you join the steam community and friend "[SVS] Whyttrash" he will hook you up with a beta key! Remember to say thank you =)

Elite Squad an awesome indie fps game
Are you bored and tired of those Big time first person shooter games? Well not with this new indie shooter coming out! This game is currently a work in progress, being developed by 3 guys and a lot of time on their hands. They have been asked if it was based off a popular movie called Elite squad but they have denied it saying that it has nothing to do with the movie what so ever and that it was just a cool name that they "came up with." Since this is an indie game(independent developers) that means that they will have more time and be able to take into consideration what the people who are going to play the game want. Of course not everyone's ideas will be implemented, but you can contact them on twitter or facebook and tell them what they should do to fix or improve on!
What game is it mostly related to?
So from the gameplay videos that they have posted i would say that this game is kind of a mix between battlefield and call of duty, but some have said it reminds them of counter strike. The reason i think of it as a mix between those two is that the graphics look kind of nice and clean like battlefield and you can destroy some objects, and the guns seem more real with the recoil and other little things such as in battlefield. While the call of duty aspect being that the maps are meant to be smaller and not nearly the size of battlefield maps but closer in size to the call of duty maps.Guns guns and more guns!
Yes they will have tons of guns! To name a few that they already have implemented are the ACR, mp5, m1911, TAC-300, AK-47, striker, SV 98(sniper), Scar-L, G36, knifes, grenades, and im sure there are a couple that i am missing. But as you can see there are a ton of weapons that you can choose from and they already have a huge selection of attachments for you to choose. For example you can add a laser sight, an ACOG scope, holographic scope, and im sure much more to come!
Some awesome screenshots, and video clips!

The latest update as of 7/23/12
Thanks for reading i hope you learned a lot about the game and are now as excited as me and everyone else awaiting the game! Oh and i forgot to mention but im pretty sure that they are giving the game away free for the first week so keep updated! Or otherwise you will have to pay these awesome people(which i dont have a problem with) to help support the game for about $10-15 they haven't decided on a price!

12 Upcoming games of 2012
I have been searching and waiting for some of the awesome games to come this year, some are major games like Medal of Honor: Warfighter while others are small indie games such as Elite Squad! The list is in no special order it is just an easy way of showing off all the games! So without further ado the games!
1. Medal of Honor: Warfighter
Probably one of the more anticipated games of the year. After the major success with the Frostbite 2 engine in Battlefield 3 everyone is waiting to see how it works out in the Medal of Honor Franchise. The story in this game continues to follow the story of Tier 1 operators and takes place primarily in the Philippines and Somalia. But the best part is that they got actual real life Tier 1 operators to help them out with the story and to make the game the best and most realistic they could. Of course they had to spice it up with lots more action and other things but some operations are real life operations which makes it cool to see how the war zones actually are and what some people have to do in war. And of course this will include Multiplayer! There are very high expectations for this action packed FPS(First Person Shooter) game and hopefully it fulfills them!
